Where Did The Pink Elephants Come From?

I choose pink elephants to become a queer symbol for the Ethiopian queer community because I noticed that we didn't really have much of them as much as we really need them. Pink is a color of romance, innocence, and calmness. I choose pink because a lot of people in the Habesha community describe queer people and queer teens as sinful and dirty. But we are just innocent and peaceful people. I hate how people talk about the struggles of being a poc while not adressing the struggles of being queer on top of that. Like, hello?? Adress the elephant in the room.
